It is an important era for French breeding as yearlings by the likes of Ace Impact come under market scrutiny

We have saved the best, or at least the highest-rated racehorse, until last. Ace Impact (left), who retired to his joint-owners the Chehboub family’s Haras de Beaumont in 2024, was unbeaten in six  starts, all at three, including the Prix du Jockey Club, in which he smashed up top-level winners Big Rock, Marhaba Ya Sanafi and Feed The Flame, as well as the Arc, which he won by clear water with Westover and Onesto getting closest to him in second and third.

The son of Cracksman has covered large, star-studded books in his first three seasons at fees of €40,000 and €30,000. Haras de Beaumont manager Mathieu Alex says: “Ace Impact left a deep  impression on everyone who saw him race. He really did have the most fantastic career, winning the Prix du Jockey Club in such impressive style and in track record time. His hallmark was that superb acceleration, which is a trait that a lot of top stallions down the years also showed on the track.

He received two Cartier awards in 2023, one for Horse of the Year and the other for best three-year-old colt, which is a rare achievement for a French horse, especially one who never raced abroad.

He consequently covered top-class mares from all around the world. The yearlings by him we have at home have lovely physiques with plenty of size and scope and a fluid movement, and we hear  the same from clients. We just have to hope that they also have their father’s electric turn of foot.

There are 13 lots by Ace Impact available to purchase at the Arqana August Yearling Sale, including a half-sister to Grand Prix de Paris victor Shakeel from Haras de Montaigu (162) and a colt out of the dual Listed-winning  Wings Of Eagles mare Blue Wings from Coulonces (269).
