Sealiway - 2024 French Stallion Trail (EBN)

Located on 100 hectares of the Head family’s historic Haras du Quesnay near Deauville, the recently established Haras de Beaumont is the brainchild of father and daughter team Kamel and Pauline Chehboub, with Mathieu Alex and Emilie Alex helping to pull the strings. The new venture got off to a flying start last year, their 2021 Gr.1 Champion Stakes winner Sealiway proving irresistible to breeders at €12,000 in his maiden campaign at stud, a figure that is unchanged for the forthcoming season despite the continued ascent of his sire Galiway and a highly significant pedigree update. Raced by the Chehboubs and his breeder Guy Pariente, Sealiway was a runaway winner of the Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on his way to French Champion Two-Year-Old honours in 2020. He returned at three to finish second to St Mark’s Basilica in the Gr.1 Prix du Jockey Club, took fifth behind Torquator Tasso in the Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and then crowned his career with victory in the Gr.1 Champion Stakes at Ascot. Also Gr.1-placed at four, he retired as the winner of five of his 18 starts, defeating 18 individual Gr.1 winners along the way, including Adayar and Mishriff. Sealiway is out of the Listed-winning Kendargent mare Kensea and is a full-brother to last season’s Gr.1 Criterium International winner Sunway, who rates a live contender for the middle-distance Classics later this year.
